Ousted PM Imran Khan admits at rally in Lahore

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is constantly criticized for failing to hide Pakistan’s position on several sensitive issues relevant to the world or for blurring the flawed ethics of the country of 227 million people. Amounting to a veiled confession, the 69-year-old cricketer-turned-politician slammed the US-led death of Osama bin Laden and admitted the dead terrorist had “fought for the cause of Pakistan”.

Khan went on to say that the US Navy Seals-directed Operation Geronimo (Laden’s murder) was unjustified and inconvenient for Islamabad.

‘Ossama had fought for the cause of Pakistan,’ Imran Khan tells rally in Lahore

According to Khan, Laden’s killing was embarrassing, not because the most wanted terrorist was located and shot in Pakistan, but because Laden was killed on his own soil and while “fighting for Pakistan”. .

“We (Pakistan) were humiliated internationally. After the United States entered Pakistan and killed Osama bin Laden here (Abottabad in Pakistan), no one said a word for three days. President Obama wrote in his book that he was afraid to break this news to President Zardari and I feared a protest over it,” Imran Khan said.

Quoting Obama, Khan said: “He (Obama) assumed that Zardari would disapprove of this and blame the United States for what they did, but Obama mentioned that by calling Zardari, the then President of Pakistan congratulated the President of the United States on the death of Laden,” he added.

“…entering someone’s territory and against someone who is fighting for you (Osama is fighting for Pakistan) to kill that person on the ground, he is protecting and fighting for, and without informing the Pakistan. At the time, the Pakistani leadership was on its knees before the United States. No one will respect you if you don’t respect yourself,” Khan said with conviction.

It may be noted that Laden was the leader of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda and a mastermind of the September 11 attacks which killed nearly 3,000 civilians. In 2011 bin Laden was killed in a military operation by US Navy Seals in the garrison town of Abbottabad. He has been accused of masterminding a number of terrorist attacks around the world, particularly targeting American establishments.

Imran Khan Rally in Lahore

At Imran Khan’s first public rally at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan since his embarrassing ousting as prime minister, the PTI supremo offered no shortage of praise for India’s foreign policy, but forgot to notice the principles of his neighbor’s policy. Khan has repeatedly praised the foreign policy of the Prime Minister Modi-led government and the strategic ties India has maintained, especially since the start of Russia’s war on Ukraine and India. India chose not to impose sanctions on Moscow.

Imran Khan praised the nature of India’s foreign policy which allows it not to openly sever ties with Vladimir Putin while establishing a balanced association with Joe Biden.

“India is a strategic ally of the United States but can continue to buy oil from Russia, it is because their Prime Minister decides for the best of the country. Their foreign policies are for the benefit of the public, our foreign policies are for another country,” the ousted Pakistani prime minister said.
