UP SDO who was suspended for Osama bin Laden poster apologizes

The sub-divisional officer of a state-run electricity distribution company stationed in Farrukhabad of the UP, who was suspended for posing the photo of al-Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden in his office, apologized on Monday and called Dr APJ Abdul Kalam his idol. He also said he has great respect for PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.

According to reports, Ravindra Prakash Gautam, former SDO (Nawabganj) stationed in Farrukhabad from UP had displayed the poster of Al-Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden in his office and claimed that Laden was the best engineer in the world. He had formed his opinion after reading a book about Laden which mentioned that “Laden had a degree in civil engineering and was associated with many crucial projects in Saudi Arabia in the initial phase of his life”.

Apparently the SDO officer was suspended on June 1 this year after video of Laden’s poster hanging in his office went viral on social media platforms. Gautam, apologizing for the incident, said on July 4 that his intentions had been misunderstood and misrepresented. He added that he follows Dr. AJP Abdul Kalam and is his idol.

He also said he was very impressed and influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. “The central government has taken the lead in our Surbhi power project. The central government’s energy department has started working on the Surabhi power project,” he said on July 4 while in Obra.

Gautam is 47 years old and had worked in the electricity utility for 21 years. He was suspended by senior officials after posing for Laden’s poster and writing “Respected Osama Bin Laden, World’s Best Young Engineer” under the poster. The poster was also removed from his office with immediate effect.
